  • The first will be at 7:30 a.m. at the Secaucus VFW (across the street from the library, 1400 Paterson Plank Rd, Secaucus, NJ 07094)
  • The second flag raising will be at 1 p.m. in front of the Secaucus Vietnam War memorial on Flanagan Way. That 1 p.m. flag raising will be followed by a free lunch at the VFW hall. Anyone who served in the Vietnam War is welcome to attend both flag raisings, and attend the lunch.

This Wednesday marks the 50th anniversary of the date the last American combat troops left South Vietnam.

"The day is to show that the wounds from Vietnam have healed, things like when we were not welcomed home," said Phil Papas, a member of Secaucus VFW and Rotary, and who owns Papa's Travel Agency in the center of town. He is also a combat veteran of the Vietnam war.
