SECAUCUS, NJ — Did you know there's now a Cinnabon, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels and Carvel Ice Cream at the Secaucus Junction train station?
All three just opened recently; they share a location. Here's video from their ribbon cutting this week:
And at Newark Penn station, the Zaro’s Bakery that's been there for a long time underwent a major overhaul and opened something called its "Freshens concept," selling smoothies, grilled flatbreads, salads and rice bowls.
NJ Transit was happy to announce the new tenants. It's part of Transit's plan to raise as much as $1.9 billion in non-farebox revenue for the agency, as it leverages its 8,000-acre real estate portfolio.
“These exciting tenants at our key stations are another way NJ Transit is working to enhance the commuting experience for customers, by providing high-quality options along their journey,” said NJ Transit's senior vice president of real estate, Gagandeep Singh. “This is another example of (our) efforts to meet the travel needs of every customer, while also utilizing its assets to support non-farebox revenue.”
