Four Patriots win medals in Garret Mountain Cross Country Races

The Secaucus High School Cross Country Team participated in the Annual "Back to the Mountain Invitational." Twenty-two schools were represented in this interscholastic event that was held at the Garret Mountain Reservation in Woodland Park, NJ.

Josh Torres ran his best time of the young season (18:51) for a 21st place medal over the 5k (3.1 miles) course. There was a field of 147 runners in the race.

Ananya Bajpai also hit a personal best when she was clocked in 22:54 in the girls varsity race. Her efforts were good for a 26rh place medal. The race had 107 contestants.

In the Freshman Girls race, Krisha Bolar earned her 22nd place bronze medal for a 20:38 two-mile performance.

Kush Patel took home a medal for his 17th place 5k finish in a time of 21:47 in the JV boys division. There were 118 runners in this event.

Coach Stan Fryczynski also wanted to also cite junior Jacob Sy-Cordero for his time of 20:15 in the Varsity Boys division. "This is Jacob's first year of cross country and that he is improving rapidly as he navigates his way through the learning process of racing," commented coach Fryczynski.

He also wanted to commend first year runner Nicole Castellano (10th grade). She has steadily improved her time and narrowly missed a medal in the JV girls race. Her time of 29:26 was food for 26th place.

The Patriots travel to Mahwah to race at Darlington Park this Wednesday. It is week #2 of NJIC dual meets. Then on Friday, they make their way to the Bronx, N.Y. to participate in the Fordham Prep Development series. The meet is run at the historical Van Cortlandt Park.
