Super Bird Sunday Nature Walk At DeKorte Park This Sunday

Take a guided bird walk with Don Torino from Bergen County Audubon Society Sunday, at DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst.

SECAUCUS, NJ — The Bergen County Audubon Society is hosting many guided bird hikes in the Meadowlands, including in Secaucus, Lyndhurst and Little Ferry.

Walks are now scheduled from February through April. They are:

Annual Super Bird Sunday Nature Walk: Feb. 8, 10 a.m. to noon at DeKorte Park, Lyndhurst

Get out in nature with the Bergen County Audubon Society before settling in for the big game! Prizes will be awarded to the first participants who identify birds that adorn football team helmets, including the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles.

Guided Nature Walk: Wednesday, Feb. 11, 10 a.m. to noon at Mill Creek Point Park, Secaucus

The Bergen County Audubon Society guides at Mill Creek Point Park. Keep your eyes peeled for snowy egrets and other wading birds.

Nature Walk: March 4, 10 a.m. to noon at Mill Creek Marsh, Secaucus

Look up for raptors and in the marsh for waterfowl on this walk led by the Bergen County Audubon Society.

Nature Walk: April 8, 10 a.m. to noon at Mill Creek Marsh, Secaucus

Early migrants, including warblers, are highlights of a Bergen County Audubon Society guided walk at this great place for birding. Meet at the trail entrance, off the back parking lot of Bob’s Discount Furniture, 3 Mill Creek Drive, Secaucus.

Birding for Beginners DeKorte Park, Lyndhurst Sunday, April 12, 10 a.m. to noon

The Bergen County Audubon Society readies novices to begin their birding adventures. The Birding for Beginner’s class covers bird identification, optics, field guides and more. A walk through DeKorte Park follows the program. Bring your binoculars and keep your eyes peeled for Warblers, Greater Yellowlegs and Tree Swallows

Earth Day Nature Walk DeKorte Park, Lyndhurst Wednesday, April 22, 10 a.m. to noon

Join the Bergen County Audubon Society and celebrate Earth Day with a walk through DeKorte Park, an incredible natural resource that features 3.5 miles of walking trails, gardens and birds galore, all framed by the New York City skyline.

Nature Walk Losen Slote Creek Park, Little Ferry Wednesday, April 29, 10 a.m. to noon

Explore one of the last low-lying forested areas in the Meadowlands with the Bergen County Audubon Society. Losen Slote provides great opportunities for peaceful relaxation and reconnecting with nature.
