Child Nearly Drowns In Clifton Motel Pool

CLIFTON, NJ — A child nearly drowned to death last Thursday, Aug. 22 at the La Quinta motel on Rt. 3 in Clifton, and remains in critical condition.

The child was pulled from the indoor pool at the motel after being submerged under water for an unknown period of time Thursday evening.

The incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. Thursday La Quinta on Rt. 3 in East in Clifton. The child was unconscious and unresponsive when he was pulled from the water, according to NJ 101.5.

The child was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson in severe condition. As of Friday afternoon, the child was still in critical condition, according to the Passaic County prosecutor's office.

“At this time no charges have been filed (and) the investigation is still open,” Chief Assistant Passaic County Prosecutor Jason Statuto said to NJ.com.
