Here's What Caused The Power Outage In Secaucus Sunday Night

Did you lose power? The North End lost power last night after not one, but two accidents at the Rt. 3 off ramp on Meadowlands Parkway.

SECAUCUS, NJ — Did you lose power last night? There were widespread power outages in the North End section of Secaucus Sunday night after not one, but two accidents at the Rt. 3 off ramp on Meadowlands Parkway.

First, a bus coming off Rt. 3 drove into a pole at the intersection of Meadowlands Parkway and the Riverside Court condos Sunday evening. PSE&G was able to quickly repair the pole and that actually did not cause the outages, Secaucus Mayor Michael Gonnelli said.

However, later on Sunday night a truck making the same left turn snagged the already low-hanging wires. That did the real damage, bringing down four poles in total and resulted in live wires on Meadowlands Parkway. That caused the widespread outages. Many homes were without power for three to four hours Sunday night, Gonnelli said. Power was restored by about 1 a.m.
