SECAUCUS, NJ — Students and staff were briefly evacuated from Huber Street Elementary School Thursday morning in Secaucus due to concerns about a possible gas leak.

However, Mayor Mike Gonnelli stressed that all students and teachers are safe, and that this was only done as a precaution after someone smelled a strange odor.

He said the boiler kicked on and released a smell of gas. The elementary school was evacuated as a precaution. The Secaucus Fire Dept. and PSE&G arrived on the scene and determined there is no gas leak, he said.
