Jersey City Substitute Charged With Sleeping With Student, 14

The teacher, 45, is charged with having a sexual relationship with a student, a 14-year-old boy, at his Jersey City Heights home.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A substitute teacher in Jersey City is charged with having a sexual relationship with one of her students, a 14-year-old teen boy, the Hudson County prosecutor alleged Tuesday, Sept. 3.

The substitute teacher, Elyse Castill, 45, was arrested last Thursday, August 29 at the county prosecutor's office in Jersey City, where she was taken into custody without incident.

According to the county prosecutor, she was employed as a substitute teacher by the Jersey City Board of Education and the last day she reported to work was in November 2018. Police say the criminal contact with the boy allegedly occurred between June 2018 and August 2019 in the boy's home on Pavonia Avenue in Jersey City.

Castillo was charged with aggravated sexual assault in the first degree, endangering the welfare of a child and other third- and fourth-degree crimes.

She was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending her first
appearance, scheduled for this Thursday, September 5.
