Man Drove Car Into Creek In Secaucus Sunday Night
A man drove his car into the small creek that runs off the Hackensack River Sunday night:
SECAUCUS, NJ — A man drove his car into the small creek that runs off the Hackensack River by Harmon Cove Towers Sunday night.
Photos from eyewitnesses show this was the scene at 8:28 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17.
Secaucus Police were called to Topsail Lane on a report of a motor vehicle in the water. When police got there, the car was unoccupied and the driver had already gotten out. Witnesses who live in Harmon Cove Towers said multiple people ran to help the man escape the rapidly sinking car. Secaucus firefighters entered the water with a canoe.

It remains unclear how the man got out of the car.
The driver, Eric Davis, 44, of Secaucus, was charged a traffic offense of Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50] and a criminal charge of Possession of Toxic Chemical for Purpose of Intoxication [2C:35-10.4B(2)], a compressed gas duster, said police.

Davis was issued his complaint summons along with three motor vehicle summonses and was released into the custody of a responsible adult.
