Man Found Dead In Secaucus Parking Garage Was Ride-Share Driver
He had pulled into the parking garage Sunday morning to take a nap, and that's where he died, said the mayor.
SECAUCUS, NJ — The man found dead in a parking garage Sunday morning in Secaucus was a ride-share driver who worked for Uber or Lyft.
He drove into the covered parking deck at 200 Mill Creek Drive to take a nap in his car, and that's where he died, said Secaucus Mayor Mike Gonnelli.
It's very common for Uber/Lyft riders to take naps in that area of the garage, said the mayor. Gonnelli went to the scene when the man's body was discovered Sunday morning.

The man is a 62-year-old resident of Secaucus; he lives in the North End of town. The mayor and Police Chief Dennis Miller both said they will not be releasing his name.
The man may have died of natural causes, said the mayor, although his cause of death is still being determined by the regional medical examiner. He had not been in his car for long, as his 2026 Hyundai Elantra was parked and still running when police found him.

Secaucus Police were called to the scene at 7:48 a.m. Sunday, when a passerby called 911 to report a man was breaking into the parked car. Police say a Connecticut man broke into the man's car and stole his credit cards. That man was arrested later Sunday morning in that same area.
When police arrived, they found the lifeless body of the ride-share driver in the car. No criminality is suspected in his death, the Secaucus Police chief previously said.
