Massive New Playground Coming To End Of Millridge Road

Construction will begin in March, with a planned opening for June 2019. This playground will rival Buchmuller in size, the mayor said.

SECAUCUS, NJ — On Friday, we told you how a fully enclosed turf sports field will be coming to the empty lot next to the Secaucus Krauszer's, and now a massive new playground will be built at the end of Millridge Road near the river.

This playground will be located on the hill rising above the dog run that is down there, and will overlook the town kayak launch and the Meadowlands, for those who are familiar with the area. There is an archery range that already exists there.

It was approved at the most recent town Council meeting, and construction will probably begin in March. Mayor Mike Gonnelli said once it's completed this will be the biggest playground in town, and will rival Buchmuller. Here is a plan for how it will look:

The playground will be about 80 feet long by 54 feet wide, Gonnelli said. It will probably open in June 2019.

It is being partially paid for by a grant from the county, and the rest of the money comes out of the Secaucus Open Space Fund, money set aside for projects such as this. So Secaucus taxpayers will not pay anything additional for this playground.
