More Than 600 Attend First-Ever Secaucus Diversity Fair

The Diversity Fair, held March 19 at the Secaucus Rec Center, was a hit, with 20+ cultures and nationalities represented:

SECAUCUS, NJ — Last Sunday, March 19 was the first-ever International Diversity Fair, held at the Secaucus Rec Center.

This was a celebration of all the world's unique cultures, many of which are represented here in Secaucus' diverse and cosmopolitan town population.

So many different cultures were represented, including but not limited to Turkey, Greece, the Philippines, India, Georgia, Turkey, the Netherlands and parts of Africa.

The event drew 600+ people to the Secaucus Rec Center on March 19, to enjoy more than 250 performers, artists, authors and vendors from 20 world cultures.

The Diversity Fair took place in collaboration with the Town of Secaucus and was sponsored by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the
Humanities.

The event was organized by The Diversity Center, a community center located in Secaucus dedicated to bringing together diverse communities through the performing arts, culture and languages. Launched by Secaucus resident Archana Athalye, the Diversity Center has conducted cultural immersion summer camps, school assemblies & workshops at schools, libraries and other public institutions.

"It was a spectacular event showcasing world cultures through music and dance performances, book author readings, diverse food offerings, an art competition, country tables and sports activities, which kept visitors of all ages engaged and delighted," said organizers. "The sold-out show was greatly appreciated by all attendees."
