Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Rt. 3 Crash In Secaucus

A motorcyclist being followed by Clifton police crashed shortly after 9:00 p.m. Sunday on Rt. 3 eastbound, at the Routes 1&9 off-ramp.

SECAUCUS, NJ — A motorcyclist who was being followed by Clifton police was seriously injured on Rt. 3 Sunday night in Secaucus, according to the office of Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.

However, he has since been released from the hospital as of Monday afternoon.

The collision shortly after 9:00 p.m. Sunday on Rt. 3 eastbound, at the Routes 1&9 off-ramp.

It is believed the crash occurred as the driver, who was being followed by Clifton Police, failed to negotiate the turn on the off-ramp. The motorcyclist, a 26-year-old Jersey City man, was unconscious and unresponsive immediately after the crash.

He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center and has since been released from the hospital.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is investigating.
