SECAUCUS, NJ — A Popeye's fried chicken is coming to Secaucus, Mayor Mike Gonnelli said Monday.
A Popeye's will be coming soon to the former location where the Bonefish restaurant used to be located, on Mill Creek Drive, he said.
That space will be divided up to house three new businesses: A Paris Baguette coffee/pastry shop, a Popeye's and a third business, currently unknown.

The new Popeye's will open there soon, possibly as early as this summer.
And don't forget, a drive-through Chik-Fil-A is likely coming to where the Red Robin used to be located. The last we reported, Chik-Fil-A applied before the Secaucus Zoning Board to knock down the Red Robin building and build new. Gonnelli said he doesn't think the Zoning Board granted permission — yet.

With Dave's Hot Chicken, and now Chik-Fil-A and Popeye's coming down the track, there will be a lot of places to get chicken in Secaucus.
Parent company Bloomin' Brands famously closed the Secaucus Bonefish in the winter of 2024, the same day they closed 41 locations of Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill and Fleming’s across the United States. Bloomin' said they specifically chose to close older, under-performing locations that had been open for many years.
The Secaucus Bonefish Grill had been open for 19 years.
Bloomin' Brands also owns Outback Steakhouse (there is one in Secaucus) and Carrabba's Italian Grill (475 Harmon Meadow Blvd, which closed several years ago and is now Dallas BBQ, which opened there last May).
Here are photos from when the Dallas BBQ first opened in Secaucus in May 2025.
