SECAUCUS, NJ — There was a robbery/shoplifting at the Gucci outlet in Secaucus Saturday afternoon, police said. Secaucus police chased down the alleged suspect, a 25-year-old Elizabeth woman, as she was fleeing the scene and arrested her.

The incident happened at 4:12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. The Gucci outlet, located at 50 Hartz Way, was open at the time. A female suspect stole over $7,000 worth of luxury items and fled the store in a vehicle, police said. Secaucus police also said she used force in the commission of the theft, but did not specify in what way.

Someone at the store called 911 and the responding officers stopped the woman in the car as she fled. Police said she had aluminum foil with her, which is commonly used to cover security alarms to prevent them from being activated. Monique Wright, 25, of Elizabeth was arrested and charged with strong-arm robbery, shoplifting and possession of anti-shoplifting devices. She was transported to the Hudson County Jail.
