Secaucus Helps Furloughed Federal Workers

The town of Secaucus already had a Coast Guard family come by earlier this week, and the family took four to five bags of groceries.

SECAUCUS, NJ — At their town Council meeting this past Tuesday, the Secaucus Council said they are opening up the Secaucus Emergency Food Bank and town store to any furloughed federal worker who needs it, as the government shutdown continues to drag on.

"Any federal worker not being paid should reach out to Lisa Snedeker, the director of social services," said Councilman Bill McKeever. "We'll certainly avail ourselves to anything we can make available to them."

McKeever said that the town of Secaucus already had a Coast Guard family come by earlier this week, and the family took four to five bags of groceries. The U.S. Coast Guard, like many federal employees, has been working without a paycheck since the beginning of the federal shutdown.
