Secaucus Man Admits Selling Counterfeit Computer Parts

The Secaucus, North Arlington and Hawthorne men said they were selling genuine Cisco equipment, which the feds say was counterfeit.

SECAUCUS, NJ — A Secaucus man and two others admitted their roles in a conspiracy to traffic counterfeit computer networking devices, in a case that was prosecuted by U.S. Attorneys.

Israfil Demir, 38, of Secaucus and Sadri Ozturan, 37, of Hawthorne pleaded guilty on Aug. 9 in federal court to one count of trafficking in counterfeit goods. Sentencing for Ozturan is scheduled for Dec. 13 and sentencing for Demir is scheduled for Dec. 14.

Musa Karaman, 35, of North Arlington pleaded guilty Thursday.

They ran a company called MIS Enterprise out of a warehouse in Woodland Park, and sold computer parts and computer networking equipment.

Federal prosecutors say that from September 2017 through May 2021, the three men told customers they were selling genuine Cisco networking products. In reality, they were counterfeit devices procured from various overseas suppliers at well below market prices and resold at higher prices.
