SECAUCUS, NJ — Released by Secaucus police, all the incidents and arrests in town last week:
On July 29 at 8:58 a.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus police arrested a 27-year-old male of Belleville for one outstanding warrant out of Jersey City, NJ in the amount of $350. He was able to post bail for the involved warrant, was issued two motor vehicle summonses and was subsequently released from police custody.
On July 29 at 9:58 a.m., Secaucus police responded to the County Car Wash located at 60 County Ave on a report of a male on the premises who was threatening the employees with a baseball bat During the investigation, the police arrested a 41-year-old male Newark, NJ for Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose [2C:39-4D], Unlawful Possession of a Weapon [2C:39-5D], Terroristic Threats [2C:12-3A] and Simple Assault [2C:12-1A(3)]. He was served his complaint summons and was subsequently released from police custody.

On July 29 at 10:32 a.m., Secaucus police responded to Buchmuller Park located at 150 Plaza Center Road on a report of individuals possibly smoking marijuana in the park. During the investigation, the police arrested a 23-year-old male of Fishers, IN and a 19-year-old female of Dedham, MA for Possession of CDS believed to be Marijuana [2C:35-10A(4)]. Both individuals were served their complaint summonses and were released from police custody.
On July 30 at 1:30 a.m., Secaucus police observed a bicycle being operated without a headlight in the area of Harmon Meadow Boulevard. During the investigation, the police arrested a 28-year-old male Thomas Kovsh of Secaucus, NJ for Possession of CDS believed to be LSD [2C:35-10A(1)] and Possession of a Prescription Legend Drug believed to be Gabapentin [2C:35-10.5E(1)]. He was also found to have one active warrant issued from the Atlantic City Municipal Court on June 6, 2018 with a bail of $350.00. He was issued his complaint warrant along with 1 summons for operating a bicycle without a headlight and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On July 31 at 9:09 a.m., in furtherance of an investigation being conducted by the Secaucus Police Detective Division in regards to an ongoing theft occurring at Marra’s Drug Store located at 1285 Paterson Plank Road, the police arrested a 55-year-old female, Joann Bernstein of Livingston, NJ for Theft [2C:20-3A]. Ms. Bernstein was served her complaint summons and was released from police custody. She is charged with stealing approximately $16,000 from the business, by putting $16,000 worth of personal expenses on a business credit card issued by the store, say police. On Aug. 2 at 4:30 p.m., Secaucus police responded to the bus stop in the area of 1203 Paterson Plank Road on a report of a fight. During the investigation, the police arrested a 25-year-old male, Lashawn Newton of Englewood, NJ for Theft [2C:20-3A]. Mr. Newton was issued his complaint summons and was released from police custody. (Secaucus police say he is accused of stealing enough to make this an indictable offense.)
On Aug. 4 at 2:34 a.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus police arrested a 29-year-old male of Jersey City, NJ for Possession of CDS believed to be Marijuana [2C:35-10A(4)]. A 23-year-old male of Jersey City, NJ was also arrested and charged with Possession of CDS believed to be Marijuana [2C:35-10A(4)] and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia [2C:36-2]. He was served his complaint summons and was released from police custody. He was served his complaint summons along with three motor vehicle summonses and was subsequently released from police custody.
These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
