Secaucus Police Blotter, Nov. 15 - Nov. 21

There was a prostitution arrest last Tuesday on Paterson Plank Road in Secaucus; a man and a woman were charged:

SECAUCUS, NJ — Released by Secaucus Police, all of last week's arrests:

At 12:29 a.m. on Nov. 15 during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 35-year-old female of Brooklyn, NY for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50]. She was served her motor vehicle summons for Driving While Intoxicated along with two additional motor vehicle summonses and was released from police custody after a sufficient period of time had passed to determine that she was no longer under the influence.

At 1:07 a.m. on Nov. 16, Secaucus Police observed a vehicle stopped along the side of the on-ramp from Paterson Plank Road onto Rt. 3 West. During the investigation, police arrested a 34-year-old male, Emmanuel Ojo-Powerson of Pocono Pines, PA for Prostitution [2C:34-1B(1)]. The police also arrested a 41-year-old female, Crystal Hotlosz of Clairsville, OH for Prostitution [2C:34-1B(8)] and Money Laundering [2C:21-25A]. Ojo-Powerson was issued his complaint summons along with 3 motor vehicle summonses and was released from police custody. Hotlosz was served her complaint summons and was released from police custody.

At 4:36 a.m. on Nov. 16, Secaucus Police responded to the parking lot of PSE&G located at 325 County Avenue on a report of an individual possibly breaking into a motor vehicle. During the investigation, the police arrested a 25-year-old male, Devon Mejia of Jersey City, NJ for Criminal Trespass [2C:18-3A]. Mejia was served his complaint summons and was released from police custody.

At 10:38 a.m. on Nov. 16, officers from the NJ State Police responded to Secaucus Police Headquarters to transfer custody of a 27-year-old male of Jersey City, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Secaucus, NJ in the amount of $500. He was able to post bail for the involved warrant and was released from police custody.

At 8:37 p.m. on Nov. 16, Secaucus Police responded to the area of 200 Riverside Station Boulevard on a report of a motor vehicle that had struck a parked vehicle and was attempting to leave the area. During the investigation, the police arrested a 48-year-old male of Secaucus, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50]. He was issued his motor vehicle summons for Driving While Intoxicated along with an additional 5 motor vehicle summonses and was released into the custody of a responsible adult.

At 10:53 p.m. on Nov. 16, during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 27-year-old male of Elizabeth, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Union City, NJ in the amount of $500 with a 10% option. He was able to post bail for the involved warrant, was issued 6 motor vehicle summonses and was released from police custody.

On 11/16/2021 at 9:11 PM, Secaucus Police responded to the Port Authority Police Department to take into custody a 25 year old male of Jersey City, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Secaucus, NJ in the amount of $500. He was unable to post bail for the involved warrant and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On 11/17/2021 at 2:14 AM, Secaucus Police responded to the Newark Police Department to take into custody a 23 year old female of Newark, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Secaucus, NJ in the amount of $500. She was unable to post bail for the involved warrant and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On 11/17/2021 at 9:19 PM, during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 24-year-old male, Sterlin Smith of Newark, NJ for Possession with intent to Distribute CDS believed to be Marijuana [2C:35-5B(11)(B)], Possession of CDS believed to be Marijuana and THC-Infused Breakfast Cereal [2C:35-10A(1)] and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia [2C:36-2]. Smith was served his complaint summons along with 2 motor vehicle summonses and was released from police custody.

On 11/18/2021 at 5:23 PM, during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 37-year-old male, Tariq Alqanawi of Newark, NJ for Receiving Stolen Property [2C:20-7A] for being in possession of a car that was reported stolen out of East Rutherford, NJ. Mr. Alqanawi was served his complaint warrant along with 4 motor vehicle summonses and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On 11/18/2021 at 7:05 PM, Secaucus Police responded to the Guttenberg Police Department to take into custody a 71-year-old male of Union City, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Secaucus, NJ in the amount of $500 along with 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Union City, NJ in the amount of $294. Both the Secaucus along with Union City did release the man on his own recognizance pending future court dates and he was released from police custody.

On 11/19/2021 at 10:37 a.m., in furtherance of an investigation conducted by the Secaucus Police Department Detective Division in relation to a Burglary and Theft that occurred at 600 County Avenue on Oct. 3, 2021, the police arrested a 24-year-old male, Jarrell Green of Elmont, NY for Burglary [2C:18-2A(1)] and Theft [2C:20-3A] after Green surrendered himself at Secaucus Police Headquarters. Green was served his complaint warrant and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On 11/20/2021 at 3:22 AM, Secaucus Police responded to UPS located at 493 County Avenue on a report of an employee theft. During the investigation, the police arrested a 23-year-old male, Gregory Greene of Brooklyn, NY for theft [2C:20-3A] and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, brass knuckles [2C:39-5D]. Greene was served his complaint summons and was released from police custody.

On 11/20/2021 at 6:09 PM, Secaucus Police responded to the area of County Avenue and Washington Street on a report of a motor vehicle accident. During the investigation, the police arrested a 33 year old male of Jersey City, NJ for 1 outstanding NCIC warrant issued by the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office. The Hudson County Sheriff’s Office did release him on his own recognizance. He was issued 5 motor vehicle summonses and he was released from police custody.

On 11/21/2021 at 3:30 a.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 22-year-old male of Brooklyn, NY for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50]. He was issued his motor vehicle summons for Driving While Intoxicated along with an additional 5 motor vehicle summonses and he was released into the custody of a responsible adult.

On 11/21/2021 at 5:48 a.m., Secaucus Police observed a motor vehicle stopped near the intersection of 9th Street and Centre Avenue. During the investigation, the police arrested a 25-year-old male of Bernardsville, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50]. He was served his complaint summons for Driving While Intoxicated along with an additional motor vehicle summons and he was released into the custody of a responsible adult.

On 11/21/2021 at 11:51 a.m., Secaucus Police responded to Walmart located at 400 Park Plaza Drive on a report of a shoplifting. During the investigation, the police arrested a 38-year-old male, Jose Galvez Rivera of Jersey City, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Secaucus, NJ in the amount of $500.00. Mr. Galvez was able to post bail for the involved warrant and he was released from police custody.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
