Secaucus Police Blotter, Sept. 25 - Oct. 1

A man had crack cocaine and fentanyl on him Sunday at the Secaucus Home Depot, said police:

SECAUCUS, NJ — Released by Secaucus Police, all of last week's arrests:

On Sept. 26 at 7:44 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to the Passaic Police Department to take into custody a 41-year-old male, Angel Collado of Passaic, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Secaucus, NJ in the amount of $600.00. Mr. Collado was unable to post bail for the involved warrant and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On Sept. 26 at 10:59 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to the Sunoco gas station at 249 Rt. 3 East on a report of a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash. A few hours later, at 1:30 a.m., the vehicle involved was located at the Rodeway Inn located at 459 Tonnelle Ave in Jersey City, NJ. The police subsequently arrested a 41-year-old female, Vanesa Guaman of Kearny, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50]. Ms. Guaman was issued her motor vehicle summons for Driving While Intoxicated along with an additional 4 motor vehicle summonses and she was released to the custody of a responsible adult.

On Sept. 27 at 8:17 a.m., Secaucus Police responded to Union Beer Distributors located at 46 Meadowlands Parkway on a report of an individual sleeping in the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle. During the investigation, the police arrested a 27-year-old male, Jake Kaniszewski of Wallington, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. Kaniszewski was also charged with Possession of CDS believed to be Amphetamine [2C:35-10A(1)]. Mr. Kaniszewski was issued his complaint warrant along with 7 motor vehicle summons including the summons for Driving While Intoxicated and he was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On Sept. 27 at 4:30 PM, in furtherance of an investigation conducted by the Secaucus Police Department Detective Division in relation to a robbery that occurred at 18 Millridge Road on 02/28/2023, the police arrested a 15-year-old male of Union City, NJ for Aggravated Assault [2C:12-1B(1)], Robbery [2C:15-1A(1)], Conspiracy to commit Robbery [2C:5-2A(1)] and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose [2C:39-4A(1)], specifically a firearm. The juvenile male was issued his Juvenile Complaint. Hudson County Corrections Intake responded to Secaucus Police Headquarters and took custody of the juvenile for transport to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center.

On Sept. 29 at 5:47 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to the Lodi Police Department to take into custody a 31-year-old male, Kevin Guzman of Franklin Lakes, NJ for 3 outstanding warrants issued out of Secaucus, NJ totaling $1,000.00. Mr. Guzman was also found to have 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Wanaque, NJ in the amount of $5,000.00, 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Edgewater, NJ in the amount of $550.00 and 2 outstanding warrants issued out of Hoboken, NJ in the amount of $148.00. Wanaque did release Mr. Guzman on his own recognizance pending a future court date. Mr. Guzman was unable to post bail and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On Sept. 29 at 7:54 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to Walmart located at 400 Park Plaza Drive on a report of a shoplifting. During the investigation, the police arrested a 21-year-old female, Didina Olteanu of Roselle, NJ along with a 25-year-old female, Marinela Baboi of Roselle, NJ for Shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)] and Conspiracy to commit Shoplifting [2C:5-2A(1)]. Both Ms. Olteanu and Ms. Baboi were issued their complaint summonses and were released from police custody.

On Sept. 30 at 11:19 a.m., Secaucus Police responded to Sam’s Club located at 300 Park Plaza Drive on a report of a shoplifting. During the investigation, the police arrested a 46-year-old male, Darryl Thornhill of Queens, NY for Possession of CDS believed to be Cocaine [2C:35-10A(1)], Possession of Drug Paraphernalia [2C:36-2A] and Conspiracy to commit Shoplifting [2C:5-2A(1)]. The police also arrested a 61 year old male, Darren Bird of New York, NY for Possession of CDS believed to be Cocaine [2C:35-10A(1)], Possession of Drug Paraphernalia [2C:36-2A], Shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)], Conspiracy to commit Shoplifting [2C:5-2A(1)] and Tampering with Public Records [2C:28-7A(1)] for altering a license plate on his vehicle. Mr. Bird was also subsequently charged for five prior shoplifting incidents in which Mr. Bird was found to be the actor. Mr. Bird was charged with Shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)] for an incident that occurred at the Best Buy in Secaucus on Aug. 9. Mr. Bird was further charged with Shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)] for an incident that occurred at Sam’s Club on Aug. 10. Mr. Bird was further charged with Shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)] for an incident that occurred at Sam’s Club on Sept. 10. Mr. Bird was charged with Shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)] for an incident that occurred at the Secaucus Home Depot on Sept. 13, and charged with Shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)] at the Sam's Club on Sept. 29. Mr. Thornhill was issued his complaint summons and was released from police custody. Mr. Bird was issued his complaint warrant and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On Sept. 30 at 10:03 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to Walmart located at 400 Park Plaza Drive on a report of shoplifting. During the investigation, the police arrested a 25-year-old male, Mackenzie Felton of Jersey City, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Jersey City, NJ in the amount of $650.00. Mr. Felton was able to post bail for the involved warrant and was subsequently released from police custody.

On Oct. 1 at 8:51 a.m., Secaucus Police responded to Home Depot on a report of a shoplifting. During the investigation, the police arrested a 45 year old male, Antonio Martinez-Cruz of Union City, NJ for Shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)], Shoplifting [2C:20-11B(6)], Possession of CDS believed to be Crack Cocaine [2C:35-10A(1)], Possession of CDS believed to be Fentanyl [2C:35-10A(1)], Possession of Burglar Tools [2C:5-5A(1)], Possession of Drug Paraphernalia [2C:36-2A] and Resisting Arrest by Flight [2C:29-2A(2)]. Mr. Martinez-Cruz was issued his complaint summons and was released from police custody.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
