SECAUCUS, NJ — The Secaucus Police Department held their torch run Friday morning, which raises money for the Special Olympics of New Jersey.
Every year police departments from across the state take part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run, and Secaucus is routinely one of the top ten fundraising teams in the state, thanks to private donors.
This year, police were also joined by members of the Secaucus Fire Department and Teamsters Local 177. Secaucus Police officers and volunteer firefighters ran for four miles through town. Select Secaucus residents joined them. Secaucus Police and residents ran the torch approximately four miles from police headquarters to each of the three schools, where kids came out and ran with them. Some kids carried the torch.
