Secaucus Police Get Federal Grant For Bullet-Proof Vests
The Secaucus police dept. recently received a $6,700 federal grant that will go towards the purchase of new bullet-proof vests.

SECAUCUS, NJ — The Secaucus police department recently received a $6,700 federal grant that will go towards the purchase of new bullet-proof vests for the department.
The Secaucus police department has had bullet-resistant vests for some time, but this grant goes to pay for new vests. Each vest costs approximately $970 and the vests need to be replaced every five years when the warranty runs out, said Capt. Dennis Miller. The vests are technically called "bullet-resistant."
Miller said he usually applies for a state grant every year to fund the purchase of the vests, but this is the first year he's applied for a federal grant, as well.
