Secaucus Teen Will Lead Faith-Based Discussion Of Holiday Movie

SECAUCUS, NJ — There are so many unique ways to celebrate the holidays in Secaucus.

A Secaucus teenager who is working towards his confirmation at St. Matthew's Lutheran church had a unique idea for his confirmation project:

The church will host a Christmas-themed movie for children and families to watch, and he will lead a faith-based discussion about the movie afterwards.

The teen is Thomas Flanagan, who is a freshman at the Hudson County School of Technology, in Secaucus.

"The confirmation class has been asked to come up with their own projects this year," said St. Matthew's pastor Danielle McCleary. "And he came up with the idea of watching a Christmas movie together followed by a faithful discussion that will be led by him."

The movie and discussion afterwards is open to all.

The movie "Polar Express" will be shown at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 800 Roosevelt Ave, Secaucus, NJ 07094. Flanagan will lead a discussion with children afterwards. The discussion will be centered around the Christian religious faith, and ideas of Christianity.

In Christianity, confirmation is usually done in the teenage years and it is when one makes a mature commitment to the Christian faith. Teens sometimes have to do confirmation projects.
