Two NJ Transit Buses Collide In Secaucus; 12 Taken To Hospital

As many as twelve people had to be evaluated at hospitals after one NJ Transit bus rear-ended another Monday morning on Rt. 495 in Secaucus.

SECAUCUS, NJ — As many as twelve people had to be evaluated at hospitals after one NJ Transit bus rear-ended another Monday morning on Rt. 495 in Secaucus.

The accident happened at 7:30 a.m. on Rt. 495 east, the major highway that feeds into the Lincoln Tunnel.

The Rt. #139 bus, traveling from Lakewood, made contact with the back of a Rt. #113 bus, traveling from Dunellen, according to an NJ Transit spokeswoman. Both buses were bound for the Port Authority bus terminal in Manhattan.

There were approximately seven passengers on the No. 139 bus, and six passengers on the No. 113 bus.

Both drivers and about 10 total passengers from the two buses were brought to local hospitals with non life-threatening injuries, State Police told NJ.com.

NJ State Police and Port Authority Police are investigating.
