Union City: Man Riding Electric Bike Collides With Car
A 29-year-old man was critically injured after colliding with a Hyundai while riding an electric bike in Union City at midday Tuesday.

UNION CITY, NJ — A 29-year-old man was critically injured after colliding with a Hyundai while riding an electric bike in Union City at midday Tuesday, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:55 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29; police responded to the intersection of New York Avenue and 26th Street in Union City on a report of a pedestrian being struck.
Upon arrival, responding officers found that a bicycle and a vehicle had collided at that location.

The bicyclist, later identified as a 29-year-old male from Union City, was found lying on the ground with multiple injuries. He was treated at the scene before being transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center. He remains in the hospital in critical condition.
The initial investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the
Union City Police Department determined that the male was riding an electric motorized bicycle
eastbound on 26th Street when he collided with a 2016 Hyundai being driven southbound on New
York Avenue. The driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene. No summonses have been issued
at this time.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is actively investigating this case with
