1 Person Dead In South Brunswick House Fire Monday Night
Two separate fires were reported in the township on Monday.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — One person was found dead inside a home in South Brunswick on Monday night after firefighters battled a blaze, authorities said.
At 9:30 p.m. on Monday night, all three township fire companies responded to Pelham Road on reports of a fire.
After firefighters battled the blaze, they found one person dead inside the house, authorities said. The identity of the person has not been released yet.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and South Brunswick Police Department are investigating the fire.
Another fire earlier on Monday kept the fire department busy. A blaze ripped through the Bancroft Group Home in Riva Avenue near Davidson Mill Road, a little after 4:30 p.m.

All residents were outside the home when firefighters arrived, authorities said. Firefighters took 20 minutes to control the 2-alarm fire.
“The firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack to contain the fire under very punishing conditions,” Monmouth Junction Fire Chief Scott Smith said. “This was a very hot, smokey fire that was spreading very rapidly. It was a tremendous effort by all firefighters on scene.”
The home suffered extensive fire, heat and smoke damage, authorities said.
No injuries were reported. The fire is currently under investigation by the South Brunswick Police Department, South Brunswick Township Fire Safety Bureau, and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
