100s Expected For India Independence Day In South Brunswick Saturday
India's independence from colonial rule will be celebrated this Saturday, Aug. 26 at Shree Swaminarayan Temple on Culver Road.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — India’s independence from Great Britain will be celebrated with gusto this Saturday, Aug. 26 on Culver Road in South Brunswick.
The Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey (IACFNJ) will celebrate the 71st anniversary of India's independence from colonial rule from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 at Shree Swaminarayan Temple at 329 Culver Road in South Brunswick. Independence Day is typically celebrated in India on Aug. 15.
Approximately 300 people are expected to attend the celebration with entertainment and cultural activities, dance performances, children’s activities, live music, DJ Darshan of North Brunswick and Indian food.

The Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central New Jersey (IACFNJ) is an organization established more than 10 years ago by people of Indian origin who lived in South and North Brunswick vicinity. The purpose was to establish an organization of people with Indian heritage, residing in communities of Central New Jersey to unify individuals and families of South Asian ethnic background. With the generous support from our local businesses, police and fire departments, school boards and townships, IACFNJ has successfully organized many community events throughout the years to include Navratri Garba, Summer Picnic, Diwali Dinner and various cultural programs. Our commitment is to continue working hard to organize these types of community events to keep our community involved.
The next IACFNJ event will be Navratri Garba 2017, which will be held Sept. 24, 29 and 30 at South Brunswick High School.
