1st Developmental Disabilities Support Day Planned In South Brunswick: See Details

Attendees will be able to hear a live officer Q&A, interact with community outreach resources and more at the event.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The South Brunswick Police Department is inviting those with developmental disabilities and their families to the department’s first annual Developmental Disabilities Support Day.

Set to take place on Saturday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the supportive, informative and interactive event will take place at the South Brunswick Senior Center on Ridge Road.

  • On-Site A.I.D. Program Registration
    • Sign up for the Alliance for Individuals with Disabilities (A.I.D.) Program to help first responders better assist individuals with disabilities during emergencies.
  • Free Emergency Identification Cards (SBPD Citizen Aid & Response Essentials Card – C.A.R.E.)
    • Cards are designed to help individuals communicate critical information during emergencies.
    • Pre-fill the SBPD C.A.R.E. Applicant Form here.
  • Sensory & First Responder Stations
    • Explore police vehicles and first responder equipment in a calm and supportive environment designed to build familiarity and reduce anxiety.
  • Live Officer Q&A
    • Learn how first responders handle emergencies involving individuals with developmental disabilities. Caregivers and loved ones will also receive guidance on what information to provide during an emergency call.
  • Community Outreach Resources
    • Information on Special Olympics programs and other local services that support individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
  • Pre-Registration Recommended
    • Attendees are encouraged to pre-register here.

Families, caregivers, educators and support professionals are encouraged to attend the event.
