2,400 Without Power In South Brunswick; 10 Roads Closed

36 trees just fell in the past 90 minutes, and South Brunswick police say it's only going to get worse throughout the afternoon.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — As of 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, the following roads in South Brunswick are closed — and South Brunswick police say it's only going to get worse throughout the afternoon.

More than 36 trees have fallen in South Brunswick in the past 90 minutes.

Rt. 27 is completely closed between Raymond Rd and Kingston Terrace due to a downed tree on wires.

"There have been dozens of reports of trees down and widespread power outages," said South Brunswick police. "We expect additional outages and fallen trees over the coming hours."

The high winds will only continue, or even get worse throughout the afternoon, so please stay inside, said police.

Currently, more than 2,400 homes in South Brunswick are without power. Trees are down in East Brunswick, as well and there are widespread power outages in East Brunswick. East Brunswick police reported wind gusts of 53 mph.

Trees are down on the following South Brunswick roads: Major Road, Miller Road, Route 522, Liberty Drive, Route 27 / Promenade Boulevard and Davidson Mill Road.

  • Route 27 in Kingston
  • Davidsons Mill Road
  • Deans Rhode Hall Road
  • Miller Road
  • Friendship Road
  • Georges Road
  • Route 27 near Old Road
  • Fresh Ponds Road
  • Jay Court
