SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Two candidates are vying for the Republican nod to run against Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman in New Jersey’s 12th congressional district (Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset, Union counties)

Monday was the deadline to file for the upcoming primary elections in June. No Democrat filed to challenge Watson Coleman, according to the unofficial list from the New Jersey Division of Election.

Watson Coleman listed Ewing as her filing address and gathered 305 signatures on her petition.

Republican Darius Mayfield with 262 signatures, is unopposed in the primary, setting up a challenge with Watson Coleman later in the year.

The 2022 primary election takes place on Tuesday, June 7 in New Jersey. The winners will earn their party's nomination for the general election, which takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 8, and will also include independent candidates.
