SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — It's a wrap for the 2024 election in Middlesex County. On Thursday, the Middlesex County Clerk's Office confirmed to Patch that the results from the general election had been certified following Election Day, which took place on Nov. 5.

South Brunswick voters cast ballots for two local races — town council, and the board of education.

With all 30 districts reporting, Rajesh Soni, Deepa Karthik, and Lisa Rodgers emerged winners in the tightly contested race.

Five candidates were seeking to fill three seats on the BOE for a three-year term

  • Rajesh Soni: 8,136 (19.56%)
  • Sujata Raj: 7,784 (18.72%)
  • Deepa Karthik: 8,631 (20.75%)
  • Lisa Rodgers: 9,089 (21.85%)
  • Barry Nathanson: 7,699 (18.51%)

Council

In the race for town council, two Democrat incumbents and a newcomer won their election bid.

Here are the certified results for race, with the vote count:

  • Michael J. Havardansky: 7,618 (12.41%)
  • Brian Wojaczyk: 7,813 (12.72%)
  • Steven R. Simon: 7,296 (11.88%)
  • Patricia Germain: 12,929 (21.06%)
  • Josephine Hochman: 12,688 (20.66%)
  • Archana 'Ann' Grover: 12,952 (21.09%)

The voter turnout in Middlesex County was 62.57 percent. A total of 369,365 votes were cast across the county, which has a registered voter count of 590,286, according to the County Clerk's Office.

In the Presidential match-up, 52.31 percent of Middlesex County voted for Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz, while 44.31 percent of residents voted for incoming President Donald Trump and JD Vance. Harris received 191,802 votes with Trump getting 162,459 votes. Jill Stein got 6,996 votes (1.91 percent).
