Additional Trucks To Remove Trash Pickup Backlog In South Brunswick

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Communities across New Jersey, including South Brunswick are facing garbage pick-up delays.
Trash cans have been spilling over in the Township after Republic Services failed to make scheduled pick-ups.
On Monday, Township Manager Bryan Bidlack said Republic Services will be deploying additional trucks on Monday and Tuesday to remove the solid waste and recycling backup.

“We ask our residents to please remain patient while both garbage and recycling pickups that were missed last week are removed,” Bidlack said. “The vendor is also in the process of picking up scheduled removals for the current week.”
Bidlack said the Township expects all trash and recycling to be removed by Friday. “We understand the difficulty of the delays and will continue to work to ensure Republic Services meets the needs of our community,” Bidlack said.

Townships like Medford, Cherry Hill, Willingboro and Cinnaminson also reported service issues with Republic in the past few weeks.
Most garbage pick-up companies are currently facing staffing shortages and equipment issues.
In East Brunswick, Solterra, the township's contractor for several years told officials that labor shortage and other issues were causing problems with pickup.
Despite good wages and benefits, employees were either failing to show up to work, showing up late, or leaving early, causing disruption in service, Solterra said. More: East Brunswick Addresses Issues With Waste & Recycling Pickups
