Boil Water Advisory Lifted In South Brunswick Following Water Main Break

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick Township has lifted the boil water advisory that had been in effect following a recent water main break, the township's Water Division announced.

Residents had been advised to boil tap water as a precautionary measure while repairs were underway. Township officials said repairs are now complete and subsequent water quality testing confirmed the water is safe to drink.

Residents no longer need to boil water before using it, the township said. However, the Water Division recommended several steps to flush household plumbing before returning to normal use.

Officials urged residents to run faucets for three to five minutes to flush service connections and interior plumbing, and to empty and clean automatic ice makers and water chillers. Hot water heaters set below 113 degrees Fahrenheit should be drained and refilled, according to the township.

Service connections with water softeners or cartridge filters should be run through a regeneration cycle or another procedure recommended by the manufacturer. In tall buildings, water reservoirs should be drained and refilled where applicable.
