SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A New Jersey man has died following a crash that occurred on Monday night, South Brunswick Police said.
At 8:35 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a crash that occurred on Route 535 near Commerce Drive.
Preliminary investigation into the crash indicates that a 2012 Honda Accord, driven by Samuel Appiah-Debrah, 44, of Sayreville, was going northbound on Route 535 when the vehicle crossed the painted median and entered the southbound lane, sideswiping another vehicle.
After the initial collision, the Honda continued northbound, struck a curb, and came to rest in a wooded area at the northwest corner of the intersection, police said.
Responding officers forced entry into the vehicle and immediately started lifesaving measures.
Appiah-Debrah was then brought to Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
As of Tuesday afternoon, police said the crash does not appear to be criminal in nature.
The Monmouth Junction Fire Department also responded to assist at the scene.
Route 535 was closed for about four hours while emergency personnel and investigators processed the crash scene.
Investigation into the crash remains active and ongoing, police said.
Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact Sgt. William Beard of the South Brunswick Police Department at 732-329-4000, ext. 7483.
