SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - South Brunswick Council is set to authorize and ratify an emergency contract for repairs to the water main along US Route 1 at Dow Jones Road at its July 15 meeting, according to the agenda, This comes following an April break that triggered a township-wide boil water advisory.
The South Brunswick Township Water Department issued the system-wide advisory on April 15 after a main break at 4300 Route 1 at the Dow Jones Road intersection caused a significant loss of pressure across the service area. A second break on New Road/Freedom Trail was repaired the same day, while crews continued work on the primary Route 1 break.
The advisory remained in place until water samples were tested and approved by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
The council resolution, listed under the consent agenda (Waiver 2026-131), formalizes the township's authorization of the emergency repair contract after the fact — a standard procedural step for emergency work performed before council could take prior action.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, at the Municipal Building, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction, following the Board of Health meeting.
