JAMESBURG, NJ — A fundraiser has been started to support a family affected by a fatal house fire on Front Street early Sunday morning, as police continue to investigate.
The fire, reported around 1:02 a.m. Sunday, killed two people and injured three others, including two firefighters, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office. Sandra Dutcher, 67, of Jamesburg, was found inside the home with serious injuries and was pronounced dead en route to the hospital. A third resident was found unresponsive inside the house and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not identified that resident or the 39-year-old woman who was injured in the fire and taken to Old Bridge Medical Center for treatment.
The GoFundMe, organized by a neighbor, says the fire destroyed the family's home and "everything inside it," and that the funds will go toward "necessities and clothing" as the family begins to recover.
"Every donation, no matter the size ... will help show [her] that she is not facing this alone," the fundraiser reads.
As of Monday, the fundraiser had raised more than $13,000 toward its $16,000 goal.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. A preliminary probe indicates the fire is not suspicious in nature and foul play is not suspected, officials said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jorge Camargo of the Jamesburg Police Department at (732) 521-0011 or Detective Stephanie Redline of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office at (732) 745-3316.
