Here’s How South Brunswick High School Ranks Among NJ’s Best, New Report Shows

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick High School ranked 54th in New Jersey and No. 979 nationally in U.S. News & World Report's 2026-2027 Best High Schools rankings, released Tuesday. The school improved its ranking from last year's 82nd in the state and 1,590th nationally.

The rankings evaluated South Brunswick High School against 17,945 nationally ranked schools and 415 ranked schools in New Jersey. The school ranked No. 51 in the state for College Readiness Index and No. 38 for College Curriculum Breadth Index. It ranked No. 77 in the state for State Assessment Proficiency and No. 111 for State Assessment Performance.

South Brunswick High School's graduation rate is 97 percent, somewhat above the state median. The school has 188 full-time equivalent teachers.

The AP participation rate at South Brunswick High School is 63 percent, according to U.S. News. The school's 12th grade enrollment is 674 students, and 17 percent of students are economically disadvantaged. South Brunswick High School is the only high school in the South Brunswick School District.

South Brunswick High School trails other central New Jersey schools in this year's rankings, including Montgomery High School, ranked 21st in the state, and Princeton High School, ranked 36th in the state after rebounding from a drop to No. 55 last year.

The rankings are based on six performance measures, including student achievement on state-required assessments, graduation rates and college readiness. U.S. News also considers how well schools serve underserved students, participation and performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams, curriculum breadth and overall student outcomes. The rankings use data from the 2023-2024 school year and were produced with research firm RTI International.
