SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A car caught fire on the shoulder of Route 130 north in South Brunswick Wednesday, forcing police to close the highway for about 20 minutes.
No one was hurt, authorities said.
Around 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, South Brunswick police got a 911 call about a car on fire near Deans Rhode Hall Road. Officers arrived to find flames burning through the front of the car, which was on the shoulder.
The driver told police he was on the highway when he saw smoke coming from the vehicle. He pulled onto the shoulder and saw flames right away.
The Monmouth Junction Fire Department responded and quickly put out the blaze. Police shut down Route 130 north for roughly 20 minutes while firefighters worked.
South Brunswick EMS also responded.
