SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The South Brunswick Township Council will take up an ambulance sale to the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad, a nearly $400,000 bequest for the Senior Citizen Center and a redevelopment push for the Sonesta Suites 2 properties at its work session Wednesday.
The session starts at 5 p.m. Oct. 7 in the Main Meeting Room of the Municipal Building at 540 Ridge Road, according to the agenda.
Three ordinances are up for introduction:
The council will consider accepting a $397,028.11 testamentary bequest for use by the Senior Citizen Center.
Two resolutions deal with the Sonesta Suites 2 properties at Block 99, Lot 11.10. One would designate the site a non-condemnation redevelopment area under the state's Local Redevelopment and Housing Law. The other would award a contract to Alaimo Associates for professional planning services to prepare a redevelopment plan.
The council will also consider resolutions authorizing attorney Anthony M. Campisano to take any necessary action for the township to acquire two properties: 3763 Route 1 (Block 92.02, Lot 14.05) and 527 Ridge Road (Block 41, Lot 12).
Other items include purchases under state contract of a 14-yard open top hooklift container and a 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe 1LS 4WD. The agenda also lists a DISH Wireless, LLC claim assignment.
The township would apply to the state Department of Community Affairs for the Park Improvements 2027 Grant. A separate resolution would add a special item of revenue to the 2026 budget for a state Department of Environmental Protection Green Communities Grant.
The council will consider issuing a new Class C plenary retail consumption license, under the hotel/motel exception, for the 2026-2027 licensing term. Gina Grennen would be appointed Registrar of Vital Statistics.
The agenda lists an executive session on a tow license discussion under pending or potential litigation. A resolution also authorizes a closed session at the council meeting.
The public portion comes early in the session, after the Pledge of Allegiance and the open public meeting statement.
