Armed Gas Station Robber Found Hiding In South Brunswick

He was wanted for an armed robbery in New Brunswick and found hiding out at La Mirage Motor Inn Wednesday, police said.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A man wanted for robbing a New Brunswick gas station at gunpoint earlier this week was found Wednesday hiding out at one of the Rt. 1 motels in South Brunswick, police said.

Cesar Rodriguez, 45, from New Brunswick, was wanted for robbing the Exxon gas station on Commercial Avenue in New Brunswick just before midnight on Tuesday night of this week. During the robbery, Ramirez approached the gas station attendant, displayed a black handgun and demanded cash. The attendant turned over an undisclosed amount of money and Ramirez fled the area in a four-door, red Toyota Camry. The gas station attendant was able to provide the car's license plate number to investigating detectives.

Police were able to track the car to the La Mirage Motor Inn on Rt. 1 in South Brunswick. At about 5 p.m. Wednesday, Ramirez was apprehended at the motel without incident. He was charged with robbery and weapons offenses. This is not the first time police have been called to La Mirage Motor Inn: In March, a man staying there was assaulted, and his attacker led police on a car chase down Rt. 1. He was eventually arrested in the parking lot of the Hotel Vincenza.
