Baby Jesus, Mary Stolen From South Brunswick Nativity Scene

Someone stole the statues Christmas Day from Saint Augustine of Canterbury Roman Catholic church on Henderson Road in Kendall Park.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — To whomever stole them, please return the wooden statues of Mary and the baby Jesus from our nativity scene, a South Brunswick church is asking.

Someone stole the statues on Christmas Day from Saint Augustine of Canterbury Roman Catholic church on Henderson Road in the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick. Mary and the baby Jesus were taken from the front lawn. Police believe the thefts occurred sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Christmas morning, Dec. 25.

As you can see from the video below, taken outside the church, only Joseph now remains in the nativity scene. In the photo above, that's how the nativity scene looked before the thefts.

Police are asking anyone who may have video surveillance of the Henderson Road area in the overnight hours or who may have information to call South Brunswick Police at (732) 329-4646.
