Blackburn Heading to Meet of Champions for South Brunswick Cross Country
Senior runner lone South Brunswick competitor to advance.
South Brunswick High School senior runner Tyler Blackburn will be heading to the Meet of Champions following this weekend's NJSIAA Group IV cross-country championships, held on Nov. 12. Blackburn was the lone South Brunswick runner to qualify for the Meet of Champions, scheduled for Nov. 19 at Holmdel, after finishing in 14th place with a time of 16:29.
The South Brunswick boys team (Blackburn, Dan Boley, Phil DeFroscia, Hiten Doshi, Ishan Goel, Kyle McCann, and Nicholas Neville) finished 11th overall with a time of 1:27:16.
At the Group IV sectionals held on Nov. 5, Blackburn was the top South Brunswick runner, finishing in 4th place with a time of 16:07. As a team, SBHS finished in 5th place 1:25:07.

For the girls, senior Cayla Del Piano was the lone South Brunswick runner at the group championships, finishing 32nd with a time of 20:20. Del Piano qualified after finishing in 2nd at sectionals with time of 19:01.
As a team, the SBHS girls finished in 7th place, with a time of 1:43:03.

On Oct. 29. Del Piano won her second consecutive GMC title with a time of 19:37.7.
