FRANKLIN, NJ — An 11-year-old boy in Franklin Township was critically injured after he was hit by a car while walking to school Monday morning, Oct. 21, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson.

The child was hit at 8:52 a.m. at the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and Holly Street, police in Franklin Twp. said. Police say the boy, who lives locally, was crossing Franklin Blvd. westbound, in or near the crosswalk, at the intersection of Holly Street when he was struck by a car.

He suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. The child is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement, said police.
