RevCon250: The Redcoats are coming to SBPL!
On Saturday, August 8, 2026, the South Brunswick Public Library will host RevCon250, an immersive history festival commemorating the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
Mark your calendars and prepare for reenactments, historic music performances, games, exhibits, and more! RevCon250 will bring New Jersey’s diverse revolutionary past to life with activities and experiences for all ages.
Highlights include presentations and performances of the popular music of the 18th century, the experiences of African Americans and Native Americans in the colonial era, and the role of the Indian textile trade in the events leading up to the Revolution, and much more. Kids can try their hand at the games children enjoyed in colonial times, learn the secrets of spying for General Washington, and discover what life may have been like in South Brunswick during the war.
“I’m really excited for this event because it’s truly going to have something for everyone,” says Adult Programming Librarian Zoë Lopéz. “History should tell everyone’s story, and that’s what we’re doing here. We’re working with staff from the Stoutsburg-Sourland African American Museum, Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape representatives, our Town Historian, and local businesses that have roots in the colonial era. Established history buffs, newcomers, and kids will all feel like this event is for them. This grant from the Arts Institute of Middlesex County is allowing us to do something really unique and special.”
