SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A car crash caused delays on Route 1 south on Tuesday morning after a car struck a fire hydrant, flooding the road.

According to the police at 6:51 a.m., a red Honda traveling on the shoulder attempted to change lanes, and in the process struck a grey Accura.

The Honda then left the road and struck a fire hydrant, shearing it off, causing high pressure water to flow onto the road, said police. Meanwhile the Acura struck a white Ford.
