Car Drives into Home in South Brunswick

A 77-year-old man sitting in his living room narrowly missed being injured when a car plowed into the house Tuesday morning.

South Brunswick, NJ - A 77-year-old man narrowly missed being injured, while sitting in his living room, when a woman drove into the side of his house Tuesday morning in South Brunswick.

The man was sitting in the front room of his home when the vehicle struck his home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. South Brunswick police responded to a Ridge Road home near the Monmouth Junction Post Office.

South Brunswick Police determined that the car, a 1999 Honda Accord, was being driven by Sailja Challa, 36, of South Brunswick and was headed south on Ridge Road. The car had just cleared a curve in the road when Challa lost control. She ran off the road into a fence and then struck the house.

The car plowed into the side of the home, breaking the siding and sending sheet rock and wood flying into the front room. The man, the home's owner, was sitting in a chair at the opposite end of the room when the crash happened. He was uninjured.

Challa was issued a careless driving summons. She was uninjured.
