Celebrate Hispanic Heritage At South Brunswick Library Oct. 15

The event will feature music, performances, free food tasting from a local restaurant and more.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - National Hispanic Heritage month is every year from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. The month-long celebration recognizes and celebrates the many contributions and extensive histories of Latin America.

South Brunswick Library will honor and celebrate the month with a lively afternoon of music, performances, free food tasting from a local restaurant, activities and more on Oct. 15.

Here's what's in store:

  • 12:30 p.m.: Storytime and crafts for kids
  • 1:30 p.m.: Musical presentation
  • 2:30 p.m.: Latin food tasting
  • 3:00 p.m.: Salsa class demo

The observation of Hispanic Heritage Month started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson. It was expanded in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan. It was enacted into law on Aug. 17, 1988, according to the U.S. Department of Education.
