Census 2010: South Brunswick Population Grows and Becomes More Diverse

Asian population more than doubles over last decade.

The population of South Brunswick Township increased by 5,683 people over the last ten years according to data from 2010 U.S. Census.  South Brunswick's population is now over 43,000 people.  The census also shows the township is becoming a more diverse community, as some ethnicities experienced significant growth over the last decade.

The data is broken down by race and ethnicity, which showed slight decreases in certain demographics and larger increases in others during the decade.

The Asian population in the township more than doubled over the last ten years to 15,592 people, an increase of 8,784 people.  The White population decreased by 3,989 people over the last ten years to 22,611 people, which comprises the largest demographic in the township.

The Black and African American population grew from 2,975 to 3,348 and the Hispanic population grew from 1,918 to 2,624.  The population of persons identifying themselves as two or more races increased from 771 to 1,128.

Middlesex County is the second largest county in New Jersey, behind only Bergen County, with 809,858 people living in the county in 2010.
