Charges Filed in South Brunswick Fatal Crash

Charges have been filed in the Rt. 1 crash in November that took the life of a 29-year-old Georgia man.

South Brunswick, NJ - A Texas man who police say caused a fatal car crash last month on Rt. 1, taking the life of a 29-year-old Georgia man, has been charged Thursday by the South Brunswick Police.

As Patch reported at the time, at 9:22 p.m. on Nov. 8, a 2005 white Volvo tractor trailer, driven by Nohemi Farfan age 45 of Baytown, Texas was headed northbound on Rt. 1 in South Brunswick Township. The tractor trailer failed to stop at a red traffic signal, swerved and struck a 2016 Ford Transit Connect that was crossing over Rt. 1 at Raymond Road, police said. The driver of the Ford, John Jermill Williams, 29 of Hampton, Georgia was killed in the crash. A front seat passenger in the Ford, a 17-year-old male from Philadelphia, recovered from his injuries suffered and was released from an area hospital after two weeks of treatment.

Police have charged the tractor trailer driver, Nohemi Farfan, with reckless driving, careless driving, failure to observe traffic control device, and unsafe lane change, announced Police Chief Raymond Hayducka. The motor vehicle offenses carry a maximum penalty of 60 days in jail and the potential for a license suspension.

The South Brunswick Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau investigated in coordination with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. The lead investigator in the case was South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety Officer Jesse Blake.
