Collier Youth Services to Commemorate 90th Anniversary with Celebration Gala
Collier Youth Services, Celebrating 90 Years of Belonging, DIignity, and Hope
Collier Youth Services, a non-profit organization that empowers at-risk youth to grow toward their potential in an environment of belonging, dignity, and hope, is proud to announce that they will be commemorating their 90th Anniversary with a Celebration Gala appropriately themed “A Time to Remember,” on June 8th at Addison Park in Aberdeen, NJ. Proceeds from the event will go to support Collier’s Programs.
This year’s Gala will be honoring The Ryan Family for their continuation of Sr. Dorothy Ryan’s legacy at Collier. Sr. Dorothy Ryan was missioned to Collier Youth Services’ Wickatunk campus in 1968. Her dedication to helping disadvantaged and trouble young women moved her to start the Collier Group Home in Red Bank, NJ in 1973. Countless young women have walked through those doors and have received the therapeutic care and life-skills training they need to be reunited with their family or transition toward independent living and live healthy, productive lives. Sr. Dorothy, often referred to as an environmental visionary, combined her love of the outdoors with her personal mission of helping at-risk youth to start Kateri Day Camp and the Kateri Environmental Center.
Inspired by her zeal for the mission, the Ryan Family quickly became involved at Collier starting in the late 1960’s. Since then, Sr. Dorothy’s family have been a fixture at Collier by serving on our Board of Directors and Special Event Committees, teaching in Collier School, volunteering, and helping raise awareness of Collier Youth Services within the community. “The Ryan Family, starting with Sr. Dorothy, has been one of our biggest supporters since the late 1960’s and have helped shape Collier into what it is today. We are grateful for all the Ryan Family has done at Collier and are thrilled to be honoring them at our 90th Anniversary Celebration Gala,” stated Sr. Debbie Drago, Executive Director at Collier Youth Services.
